Planning to visit with some friends, but some cannot stand the smell of beer, so I wanted to ask: is there a strong smell of beer throughout the whole tour or just in some areas (e.g. at the tasting step)?

There is no smell at all. It is like an interactive museum. No worries. Just go for it.
