This beach is safe, but it is recommend that do watch where your feet do step. During the off peak (not sting ray season) you’ll be okay with no shoes, but it’s up to you, wearing reed shoes would be a great idea if you have them! You can also hire full body stinger suits at the sports hut on the beach. Due to the proximity to the beach, there won’t be any large animals (except for maybe large turtles), we saw a few small reef sharks but they were probably the size of your hand/forearm and they were heading out as they must’ve just hatched. No crocs - but always double check with the locals or early morning surfers!
Coming to Hamilton island in 2 weeks, interested in doing the turtle discovery, how far out do you need to swim? Could the people that don't want to snorkel still see the turtles on kayaks? And can kids 4 abd 6 double in kayaks?

I know have to swim out a way as the beach slopes very gently. Cant really help about the Turtle Discovery.
