Yes you will need to buy boat tickets, the boat ride is 50-60 minutes depending on stops. We had the Stockholm Pass which included free boat fare and all entrance fees at the castle …

I got there at 10 am. Most of the museums are closed on Monday so this is where I went. I don’t recall when they closed, but most places did close at 4 or 5 pm.
