This was a sacred water hole for the ancient Mayans - source of drinking water and for watering crops. Now it's a swimming pool.InsightfulTourists的完整评论

Bit of a walk for my kids down to this cenote, but mostly shaded (and lined with vendors). The view isn't really worth it- mostly just the history of knowing what was done here. But, we were treate…JaimeeRG的完整评论

It was beautiful to see. The day we were on our tour it began to rain so we could not swim in the cenote. We tried to wait it out but the rain was coming down hard and didn't seem like it was going t…L B的完整评论

Hi there are local tour guides when you reach chichen itsa site but not at the cenote. However, you won't really need a guide at the cenote as it's just a beautiful sink hole that you can swim in - of course there's history to it but we had all that information from our guide at chichen itsa before we went to the cenote. By the time you reach the cenote it is so hot all you want to do is dive into that water!
Hi All, I am travelling to Chichen Itza on early May 2016.We are on travel budget. We will be taking public bus from Valladolid town to Chichen Itza. After that is it advisable for us to walk to Cenote Sagrado?

Yes you can walk to the Cenote. But bring some water because it is very hot. After the walk you can swin in the Cenote and cool off. Have fun.
I need to know if I can bring my 7 year old and my 2 year old to the Pyramids in CHICHEN ITZA and to the Sacred Cenote (Cenote Sagrado). I have no babysitters, and really want to swim in the Cenote with my kids, but I haven't seen a video of any kids swimming.. Thank you.. Also how much it cost to visit both locations?

I'm not sure of the exact entrance fee but kids do go free! I would mabey aim to visit the Cenote first and then the ruins as it gets very hot and there is little shade at the site so try and go either in the evening or early morning. We went to a lovely Cenote that gave out lifejackets for children and anyone else who wanted them, which I believe many other Cenotes offer as well. (:

Sharon- The cenote at Chichen Itza is not really suitable for swimming. I did not swim at Ik Kil myself but I believe it is beautiful. It is very close to Chichen Itza. There are several amazing cenotes around the Yucatan peninsula. Depending on where you are staying, there is likely to be one near you for another day.
