Hard to answer. There are several large steam locomotives and cars on display inside the building, but people are not allowed to climb on them. There are lots of historical displays and items in glass display cases and a larege gift shop that has many items for children. It does not talke long to go through this as it is a pretty small building and grounds, so I would say for a 30 to 45 minute visit a 3 year old might do OK. Parents may have to stimulate a little excitement for a 3 year old to keep them interested.
