You’ll find gravel roads throughout the park and the side roads are the most likely. We enjoyed the drive up and the short hike into the canyon.Ronald B的完整评论

Titus Canyon is a 26 mile dirt road that takes you through Leadfield Ghost town. This one way road starts outside the park by the entrance to Rhyolite. The road is maintained enough to get most 2…lovz2hike的完整评论

We rented a 4x4 from Farabee's for the day. They were great to work with and the drive through Titus Canyon was really amazing. The drive itself was fun - going through the windy mountain roads - a…NewtonDad的完整评论

You can do it in an Escalade, no problem. My first time through Titus was in 2014, and I was driving my Chevy 1 ton dually, crew cab. This is not a technical or difficult 4x4 road. It’s a bit narrow in a couple spots, and there’s some shelf road. Might be interesting or a little scary to the inexperienced, but honestly four wheel drive really isn’t even necessary. Just air down to 20psi for ride comfort, go slow, and stay aware of where your tires are on the road. I just went through Titus 2 months ago, and the road was in great shape.
A recent review mentions tour jeeps on the Titus Canyon Road. I'd like to do that drive on my next visit to Death Valley, and one of the things I love most about the park is the sense of isolation that can be found there. Do you think the tour jeeps could be considered an intrusion on this drive? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Not sure what you mean by intrusion. There are several companies that offer either an early morning or afternoon tour thru the canyon. Or there is a place in Beatty, Nev that rents 4x jeeps and books tours. Neither route is cheap. As I recall a one day rental was around $150. Not sure the cost of the tours. There may possibly be rentals and tours at Furnace Creek. If you are looking for seclusion you may be able to find it by avoiding the start times of the tours. There is a wide spot just past halfway where the tours break for food and beverage. Other than that spot I never saw another vehicle. DO NOT attempt this in a 2 wheel drive sedan. I did but would never do it again. In many places I could not avoid dragging the under carriage and often lost traction going up hill. This road (?) is only wide enought for one vehicle and often has a drop off at the edge you would never survive. Once commited there is no alternative but to continue forward. Driving over some of the jagged rocks I began to worry about a flat. Imagine going up hill on that narrow road with a flat. No way to jack the car up on that angle and unlikely you could back down far enought to find a level spot. It is a beautiful drive unlike many others I have taken and may do it again, but with the right vehicle. Enjoy,
Hi I am planning to drive Titus Canyon if I have time after driving round the DV attractions South of Furnace Creek. I see on Google Street view that Titus Canyon Rd is only open Eastbound from Scotty's Castle Rd for 3 miles so is the best way to enter Titus Canyon heading West from highway 374 near Beatty?

yes and I do not think you will have any trouble finding the right turn to the Canyon . When we were there 6 months ago the sign was clear---Go slow and remember life is a journey
