The area was closed due to the discovery of asbestos. An estimate of nearly £1m was made for the clearing of the asbestos. With grants, we have now cleared the upper area and it will be available for visitors next year. We are trying to raise the money so that the basement area can be cleared; this will allow access to the pumping area and allow us to start steaming again.
