B ANGKOK — The death toll from the massive earthquake that hit Myanmar nearly a week ago rose Thursday to 3,085 as search and rescue teams found more bodies, the military-led government said, and humanitarian aid groups scrambled to provide survivors medical care and shelter.

Extreme heat and heavy rain in Myanmar could cause disease outbreaks among earthquake survivors camping in the open, global aid bodies warned on Thursday.

A U.S. team has yet to arrive in Myanmar after last week’s 7.7-magnitude earthquake, while China has already rescued six people and committed $14 million in humanitarian aid.

The fire department in Naypyidaw said a woman was pulled from the rubble 91 hours after being buried when a building collapsed. But more than 2,700 others have died.

A 5.1-magnitude aftershock hit near Mandalay on Sunday, following the 7.7 quake on Friday that has killed more than 1,600 people.

A government spokesman told state-run MRTV that another 3,400 have been injured and more than 300 were missing.

Rescue workers, sniffer dogs, paramedics and millions of dollars in aid have begun arriving in Myanmar after a massive earthquake ravaged much of the war-torn country.

The magnitude 7.7 quake Friday rocked an impoverished Southeast Asian nation already beleaguered by years of civil war.

Myanmar junta chief Min Aung Hlaing has also rejected calls for a ceasefire to facilitate the delivery of desperately needed relief supplies.
