Two days after wrapping up his career with the Boston College Eagles, Ryan Leonard will hit the ice for the Washington Capitals against the Bruins at TD Garden.

One of the most highly-touted players in college hockey is ready to step into the big time, as Ryan Leonard is set to make his NHL debut with the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night when they face the Boston Bruins.

Ryan Leonard signed an entry-level contract with the Washington Capitals on Monday, a three-year deal with an average annual value of $950,000. Leonard, selected by Washington with the No. 8 pick of the 2023 NHL Draft,

The Washington Capitals will see a special NHL debut in Boston, as Ryan Leonard is set to play in his first game against his hometown Bruins on Tuesday.

The Capitals selected Leonard with the eighth overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft. Leonard, 20, recorded 49 points (30g, 19a) in 37 games with Boston College (NCAA) this season. The 6’0”, 200-pound forward led the nation in goals and became the first NCAA player with back-to-back 30-goal seasons since Boston College's Cam Atkinson in 2009-10 and 2010-11.

It was a disappointing ending for Boston College that had openly talked from the beginning of the season about having unfinished business.

The 2023 first-round pick could make his NHL debut Wednesday against the Wild if coach Peter Laviolette puts him in the lineup.
