Congress is staring down a deadline to fund the government by the end of the week, as the familiar threat of a shutdown looms over Washington.

Chinese tariffs on American agricultural goods go into effect today. The levies, of up to 15%, are a response to Mr Trump’s decision to impose charges of 20% on all Chinese goods entering America, in addition to pre-existing tariffs. China is the largest importer of American produce; a drop in trade could significantly harm American farmers.
