Germany’s chief diplomat is describing U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts to secure a truce in the three-year war between Russia and Ukraine as deadlocked.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock says U.S. talks on Russia-Ukraine war are in a "deadlock," while Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi says the parties are making progress.

Germany's armed forces, the Bundeswehr, said its troops would be stationed along NATO 's eastern flank in Lithuania, and the unit will be fully operational by 2027. This marks the first time soldiers from the country will be on a permanent foreign deployment since World War II.
