Senators told the Trump administration that Dr. Dave Weldon didn’t have the votes to be confirmed, though he had believed his confirmation hearing Thursday would proceed before it was canceled.

The nomination was withdrawn just before Weldon was scheduled to testify at his confirmation hearing Thursday morning before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. Axios first reported the news.
