Rwanda assertively aims to protect its national interests and the dignity of its citizens while promoting sovereignty and mutual respect.

Belgium has successfully pushed the EU to impose sanctions on its former colony, Rwanda, over its military involvement in DR Congo. Rwanda has not taken the decision lightly.
