India has brought home nearly 300 of its nationals who were lured to various southeast Asian countries, including Myanmar, with fake job offers and made to engage in cybercrime and other fraudulent activities in scam compounds,

A special flight brought back approximately 280 Indians who were rescued from cyberfraud operators in Thailand on Monday. On Tuesday, another 270 Indians will return from Mae Sot, Thailand, aboard a second flight.

Thailand requires any country repatriating its citizens from Myawaddy to send officials to the Thai-Myanmar border to facilitate the process, which includes disease screening and immigration checks.

As many as 283 Indian nationals were rescued and repatriated from Myanmar on Monday by India. These citizens were lured into Myanmar with fake job offers, and were made to indulge in cybercrime at scam centres in regions along the Myanmar-Thailand border.
