Another week of the high school softball season is complete, and there were some exciting matchups last week in the Bay State. Our nominees for this week delivered some exciting performances for their respective teams.

Howman excelled in a tight game and in a blowout for the Spartans, who notched a pair of victories in completely different fashions. His two-hit shutout and 13 strikeouts set the stage for a 2-0 win over North Smithfield in eight innings. Howman added a three-run homer in a mercy-rule cruise past Paul Cuffee.

On the road at Union City on April 14, Stein tossed 10 strikeouts in five innings of one-hit ball. He now has 19 strikeouts in his last 10 innings, bringing his career total to 89.
