[Andreas] found that battery holders with a coiled spring would accommodate the extra length, but those with metal leaf springs would not. We have looked at LiPo charging a few times in the past.

But LiPo cells must not be charged in freezing ... the battery with an integrated heater and preheat the battery to a safe charging temperature as well. So, just like everything with electronics ...
