What makes GimBall so novel is its exoskeleton. A carbon fiber gimbal encircles the entire craft. Around the gimbal is a geodesic sphere made up of carbon fiber rods and plastic joints.

The gimbal was designed with the CrazyFlie in mind, but as there’s nothing more exotic holding the craft down than a zip tie, it should work with similarly sized quadcopters.

The footage appears similar to the well-known "gimbal" UFO video, displaying a disc-shaped craft with a protrusion on top. The military personnel's account adds credibility to the sighting.
