During the ongoing remedy phase of the Department of Justice's case against Google, OpenAI executive Nick Turley testified on Tuesday that his company would be interested in buying Chrome if Google was forced to sell it. Selling the Chrome web browser is one of the DOJ's proposed remedies for breaking up Google's search monopoly.

Turley testified that acquiring Chrome could allow OpenAI to explore “AI-first” experiences at the browser level. While users can already access ChatGPT through Chrome extensions, the firm believes owning the browser could enable more seamless and integrated interactions.

OpenAI would be interested in buying Google's Chrome browser if antitrust regulators force the tech giant to sell it, a company executive said in testimony during Google's antitrust trial in Washington on Tuesday.
