盾锯所带来的最重要的新能力就是“盾反”——可以偏转和招架敌方的攻击。恶魔的绿色弹幕和发绿光的近战“涌能”攻击，都能通过在正确时机按下防御键弹回去，把恶魔打出硬直。中小型敌人一次盾反就会进入处决斩杀线，大型敌人则需多次盾反，趁硬直期间用枪械与近战攻击打出成吨伤害。
