Democratic U.S. Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva of Arizona has died. He championed environmental protection during his 12 terms in Congress. Grijalva was 77.

Rep. Grijalva died Thursday of complications from cancer treatment, his office said in a statement. He was 77.

Veteran Rep. Raúl Grijalva, one of Arizona's longest-serving members of Congress, died on Thursday, ending his decades-long career in public service and creating a vacancy in the state's representation on Capitol Hill.

Instead, the No. 6-seeded Jayhawks wilted in an 88-77 loss at T-Mobile Center. A prime example came when Kansas trailed by five with 4:06 left. Kansas turned the ball over on two straight possessions and eventually lost another winnable game.
