A proposed Google-backed constellation of satellites is being developed to spot small blazes before they can grow out of control.

Google Research announced the first satellite of its wildfire detection satellite network – FireSat. It is a collaboration between Google Research and several other organizations like Muon Space, Earth Fire Alliance and the Moore Foundation.

There’s no single pathway to managing this growing wildfire crisis, but there is something that can empower data-driven action across the globe: FireSAT.
