Dallas Stars forward Roope Hintz will be sidelined for a week with a facial injury but avoided a fracture. General manager Jim Nill said Tuesday that Hintz has to keep his heart rate down for 5-7 days to avoid pressure or swelling.

Nill said on the DLLS Stars Podcast Tuesday that Hintz was evaluated by doctors Monday, and it was determined that the forward does not have a fracture in his face. The injury occurred near his eye, so doctors want Hintz to keep his heart rate down for the next 5-7 days.

As facial injuries continue to plague the Stars ’ roster this season, top-line center Roope Hintz is the latest victim. After taking a puck to the face at the 10:45 mark of the second period of Saturday night’s game against Edmonton, Hintz left the game and did not return. He was taken to the hospital and ruled out for Sunday’s game in Vancouver.

The centre was ruled out of Sunday’s contest against the Vancouver Canucks after he took a puck to the face in a loss to the Edmonton Oilers the day before.

The Dallas Stars made the biggest splash at the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline, acquiring Mikko Rantanen from the Carolina Hurricanes. The Stars are pushing for a Stanley Cup after coming close in recent years.
