The international all-civilian Fram2 crew is the first in space history to fly to orbit with no licensed pilot or trained astronaut on board.
SpaceX is set to launch its next private human spaceflight mission, Fram2, from Florida on Monday evening. The mission, which will see a collection of civilian scientists, entrepreneurs, and explorers fly onboard Crew Dragon Resilience, will be the first-ever human spaceflight mission to fly to a polar orbit.
The SpaceX Falcon 9 launch of the Fram2 mission is targeted for Monday from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Liftoff is scheduled for 9:46 p.m. ET. Three additional opportunities will be available during the 4.5-hour-long launch window: 11:20 p.m. ET, 12:53 a.m. ET, and 2:26 a.m. ET.
Helping to launch the Fram2 mission will be SpaceX’s first-stage booster, named B1085. Not only has it launched a crew missioned, but it also sent up the Blue Ghost mission, the first fully successful lunar mission by a private space company.
