On a weekend that McLaren was tipped to dominate by its rivals, it was a shock that it didn't lock out the front row.

Oscar Piastri claimed pole position for the Bahrain Grand Prix as McLaren team-mate Lando Norris qualified only sixth. McLaren’s rivals believed that this would be the weekend which would show the advantage of the papaya cars and they duly topped all practice sessions to suggest a two-way battle for pole.

Lando Norris opened up after a disappointing P6 in Bahrain GP qualifying, saying “need to try and find some answers.” His teammate Oscar Piastri took the pole position. Norris admitted he’s struggling and letting the team down.
