North Macedonia is mourning the victims of a catastrophic nightclub fire that killed 59 people, mostly teenagers and young adults, and triggered nationwide protests against safety failures.

Authorities in North Macedonia said Wednesday they have shuttered dozens of nightclubs and entertainment venues following a deadly fire that killed 59 people at a live pop concert. Government spokesperson Marija Miteva said that out of 50 establishments inspected in several cities,

At least 59 people died and more than 150 were injured in the inferno. The authorities said the venue’s hospitality permit had been issued illegally.

Zulma Daniela Calderon Pacheco, 21, of Chicago, was fatally shot March 8 at the Mansion Live nightclub in Stone Park by a security guard, officials said.

The lawsuit alleges Mansion Live failed to properly train and supervise security guards and allowed security to carry a firearm when it was unsafe.

Zulma Calderon-Pacheco was with her boyfriend at the Mansion Nightclub in Stone Park when she was shot, and Kevin Henley Jr., who was working as a security guard at the club, is now charged in her death.
