Xfinity viewers watching Monday night’s game between the Avalanche and Blackhawks on Altitude TV missed out on the third period and Nathan MacKinnon’s historic 1,000th point because of a “software malfunction,” according to KSE Media Venture President Steve Smith.

Nathan MacKinnon appeared to have reached the 1,000-point milestone in the first period of Colorado’s game against Chicago. His teammates even streamed onto the ice to celebrate his history-making assist.

Nathan MacKinnon reached the 1,000-point milestone Monday night, becoming the 100th player to do so and the third in franchise history.

Nathan MacKinnon, in his 856th career NHL game, has recorded his 1,000th NHL point. MacKinnon is the 100th player in NHL History to reach the milestone. The Cole Harbour native is also the 23rd player to do it in 856 games or less.

His next goal or assist will join him with Hall of Famers Joe Sakic and Peter Stastny as the only skaters in franchise history to reach 1,000 points. His next chance is Monday against Chicago at Ball Arena.

While Nathan MacKinnon has had an incredible level of innate ability his entire life, his relentless work ethic and drive to be the best was what helped him reach the 1,000-point milestone on Monday.
