In the Drawing Room the carved, painted and gilded ceiling, painted frieze, silk wall hangings, carved doors, dado and window shutters, marble fireplace and massive overmantel mirror exhibit the full extent of the influence of Italian design.

Within the imposing castle keep, are the beautifully decorated State Rooms. Home of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland, the rooms are filled with treasures and stories from Alnwick Castle’s history. 2012年2月17日 · The Red Drawing Room features a Carrara marble chimneypiece carved by Giuseppe Nucci and painted decoration by Alessandro Montovani. After two years of conservation work and display at both Versailles and the Victoria & Albert Museum, the famous pair of Cucci cabinets returned to the castle in the summer of 2011.

Inside the Castle you will find a huge number of fascinating rooms and artefacts from its fractious history to discover. The State Rooms are packed full with art and antique furniture, the Library in the Tower houses a collection of 14,000 books, the Drawing Room has its rare Cucci Cabinets and the Dining Room with its enormous 33 foot long table.

The two most impressive rooms are the Italian Renaissance style Drawing Room and the luxurious Dining Room. The walls are adorned with paintings by Italian and Flemish masters such as Van Dyck, Canaletto or Titian. As for the monumental Library, it was started 400 years ago and now holds over 16,000 books.
