Today, most of the original SD90MACs have either been retired, traded in, or rebuilt while SD9043MACs remain in regular use with various companies, particularly Union Pacific which continues to utilize some of the units.

2018年6月26日 · ALBERTVILLE, Ala. — Progress Rail, a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc. today announced it has been chosen by Canadian Pacific to supply an order of 30 upgraded EMD SD70ACU locomotives — otherwise known as modernized versions of SD90MAC models.

Union Pacific and Canadian Pacific were the only two North American Class 1 railroads to purchase the SD90MAC-H. No SD90MAC-H's are in service in the US. UP retired their SD90MAC-H Phase 1's.
