2020年4月1日 · I was told when you purchase a still it Is recorded and federal agencies can get copies of all transactions. Don’t know if that is still the case but I would have much preferred to purchase one than build one. I opted to build only for this reason as stills are illegal in several states even though you can still buy one.

2014年12月28日 · The Clawhammer 5gal is a solid design and Kyle is great to deal with. You'll have to decide if having pre-cut parts is worth the premium over sourcing your own. Either way, you still need to be comfortable with metal working and have solid torch / soldering skills.

2015年9月8日 · As built from clawhammer, the lower portion of the condenser has no support. Solder in some 3/8 tube from the 1/2in. outlet to the 1 1/2 in column. The top solder joint of the two Ls failed from putting the water hoses on and off after 4-5 months use even with the light pressure you put on it. No fun having escaping vapor.

2013年3月6日 · I am trying a all grain recipe from the clawhammer stills site. This is my first try at a all grain. 8.5 pds cracked corn 1.5 pds malted barley 5 gal water I put 5 gallons of water in my pot and heated up to about 170f and put my corn in. Keep stirring until the temp drops to 152f.

2012年2月6日 · There "are" other companies that make such stills..(reflux/pot mode) but they are FAR more expensive and many of them based on older designs (ie., tubes through column high/low). The Colonel at coppermoonshinestills is one. The copper alembic places that sell refining lentils or tube/CM columns that attach to standard alembic potstill "turnip".

2014年3月24日 · Aaron I have not heard anything bad about clawhammer stills, There are plans on this site and builds on this site that are at least as good IMO as a clawhammer. If you have a printer I would just buy a sheet of copper and cut it out yourself. Save you a bit of money. The real quality is not in cutting out the copper it is putting the solder to it.

2018年1月24日 · Has anyone modified a clawhammer still? I'm thinking of adding a thumper, any suggestions would help. I'm thinking of using a 2 gallon thumper with the 5 gallon still.
