Dhaka district was established in 1773, but it saw the Superintendent of Police (SP) from 1863. Lt. W. L. N. Knyvett was the first superintendent of Dhaka district Police. It has seven police stations- Savar Model, Ashulia, Dhamrai, Keranigonj Model, Dakhin Keranigonj, Nawabgonj and Dohar.
