1440x1080 = 6:3 = 2:1? I am not a math genius but 1440 doesnt look as twice as much as 1080. I belive you meant 4:3. And it has nothing to do with the screen quality at all. 4:3 is an old screen setup while 16:9 is a modern nearly like used in cinema setup. you can have a larger picture to the sides and therefor see more then with a 4:3 screen.
