My guess is, German automakers realized everyone's buying 4-door cars now. So when they set out to make the CLS or the CC, they made them 4-doors.

2021年4月25日 · 4 door coupes have existed for decades as well and preceeded modern German ones by a long while. Nevermind the fact that car definitions change over time; most modern 'coupes' like the 4 Series are actually two door sedans, the Miata is not a Roadster nor is the Suburban an SUV.

2022年8月21日 · That does imply 2 doors, but there have been a few 4-door coupes in the past, and pretty much every regular car before 1972 or so offered a 2-door sedan as well as a 4-door. Mercedes brought back the 4-door coupe with the 2004 CLS, but the 2-door sedan died out with the second-gen Ford Focus.

Currently the GT63S has bragging rights as the fastest 4 door, 4 seat sedan to lap Nurburgring. Faster than even the highly praised Giulia Quadrifoglio which is nearly 700 lbs lighter and has great handling. It might be a novelty for that reason alone.

2023年8月6日 · A 2 door sedan is a 2 door variant of a car that's normally a 4 door sedan. The chassis and body are all the same as the 4 door, it's just a 2 door version. A coupe is a car that doesn't have a 4 door variant, the body and chassis are 2 door only and do not share any interior/exterior parts with other vehicles.

In Europe you can have a total of 6 different flavours of 3/4 series: -4 door sedan -5 door wagon -2 door coupe -The sedan version of the coupe version of the sedan aka the Gran Coupe 5 door -The GT which is kind of like a wagon but more like the Gran Coupe? -2 door convertible Call me boring but to me this sounds like an overkill.
