This statue of Khasekhemwy, last king of the 2nd Dynasty of Egypt, enthroned with conquered foes incised around the base, is the oldest surviving stone royal sculpture from ancient Egypt. The king is wearing the White Hedjet Crown of Upper Egypt and is wrapped in a long robe with long sleeves associated with the heb-sed jubilee festival.

He was the earliest Egyptian king known to have built statues of himself. Khasekhemwy's enclosure in Abydos. Circa 2700 BCE. Khasekhemwy apparently undertook considerable building projects upon the reunification of Egypt. He built in stone at el-Kab, Hierakonpolis, and Abydos.

Khasekhemwy built at Hierakonpolis, Al-Kāb (El-Kab), and Abydos, the latter site containing his royal tomb, which was the first to use extensive stone masonry. Two seated statues in his likeness, discovered at Hierakonpolis, are adorned with figures of defeated enemies, and another relief shows him triumphant over Nubia .

2024年2月18日 · In the Middle or New Kingdom, a cult statue of Khasekhemwy may have been erected in the temple of Karnak. According to Georges Legrain, a statue was found there in 1899, possibly dedicated to the memory of this king.
