As an owner/operator (if you're willing to buy all the things you need as a pilot car) you can make much much more. The once in a lifetime months, you can probably net over 20,000. Casual months, you're looking at 6-8000, but you're also paying insurance and wear & tear.

The Pilot is a very safe product and safety to me trumps all that, I have a 2006 Pilot at 160k miles. I fixed the VCM issue with aftermarket cancellation of VCM. Also regularly change transmission fluid every 30k miles. Timing belt every 100k is nothing compared to the miles of enjoyment.

The next Lexus GX is a twin turbo v6-im hesitant to have turbos in my family car because they require different driving than a naturally aspirated engine (Odyssey or pilot). If you don't drive a turbo SUV differently, you end up replacing turbos every 10-30k miles-ford edge and explorer ST's are well known for turbo replacement.

The Pilot has adequate space for 2 adults and 2 kids but any more people and I’d want something larger. I’m really tall and can’t take the driver’s seat all the way back where I’d like it when the car seat is behind driver’s seat. If I had to nitpick something I’d say the hatch opening beep is far too loud and can’t be silenced.

Not because the Pilot's bad, just because the Highlander has some positives too that haven't been mentioned. The Toyota Highlander is a lot newer. The current Highlander generation is from 2019, while the Pilot is from 2016.
