At the heart of Cîroc Vodka lies Master Distiller Jean-Sebastien Robicquet and his distillery Maison Villevert, which has been in his family for over 500 years. We spoke with Jean-Sebastien to learn more about this distinctive, grape-inspired vodka.

Jean-Sébastien realised that the grapes that have surrounded him since childhood could provide the necessary fermentable sugars to create spirits, including vodka and gin – not just cognac. “I was convinced we could bring ‘nobility’ to the categories – there’s an expression ‘grain for people, grapes for the king’.”

Jean-Sébastien is based in Villevert, France in the renowned wine region of Cognac. Jean-Sébastien earned his Oenology diploma in 1988, and a Masters in Law, Economics and Management of the Wine Industry in 1990. He combined his distilling expertise and his skill as an oenologist to create CÎROC Vodka in 2003.
