KAKE and other ABC affiliates finally began color transmission when the ABC network joined CBS and NBC to become "full color " networks in the mid-60's. In May 1956, just before the television network began its first color broadcasts, the ABC logo consisted of a tiny lowercase "abc" in the center of a large lowercase letter a, a design known as the "ABC Circle A".

On a gold background, there is a gold ABC circle logo, which after two diagrams of the logo are placed in, the logo zooms in as it syncs to the beat of the three-note ABC jingle. On a yellow background, there is the ABC circle logo as it forms together with the "ABC" wordmark being surrounded by circles.

Launched in 1927 as the NBC-operated radio network NBC Blue Network, and after it became an independent radio network in 1945, it extended its operations to television in 1948, following in the footsteps of CBS and NBC. ABC has 8 owned-and-operated and over 232 affiliated television stations throughout the United States and its territories.

NBC is the oldest of the "Big Three" television networks, and is sometimes referred to as the "Peacock Network", in reference to its stylized peacock logo, which was introduced in 1956 to promote the company's innovations in early color broadcasting before becoming a part of its main branding in 1979.

CBS Broadcasting Inc., commonly shortened to CBS, the abbreviation of its former legal name Columbia Broadcasting System, is an American commercial broadcast television and radio network serving as the flagship property of the CBS Entertainment Group division of Paramount. Although replaced in 1951, this would still be used by CBS News until 1965.
