Holy Cross is a private, Catholic high school located in Kensington, Maryland. Now more than ever, it’s time for girls to find their voices, to speak their minds, to stand up for their beliefs and to lead change in the world.

Founded in 1868 by the Sisters of the Holy Cross, our school has maintained a long tradition of excellence in preparing girls to become women of courage, compassion and scholarship—from our founding in Washington, D.C., to our beautiful, 28-acre home in Kensington, Maryland.

The Academy of the Holy Cross, a Catholic college preparatory school sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Cross since 1868, is dedicated to educating young women in a Christ-centered community which values diversity.

Three courses, Geography, Health and Public Speaking, are offered on a for-credit basis during the Summer Intersession at The Academy of the Holy Cross. Public Speaking carries a value of ½ credit, and is open only to current Holy Cross students.

To be eligible for consideration for financial aid at The Academy of the Holy Cross, you must complete the online aid application through FACTS Grant & Aid. The fee to file is $45. The deadline to submit the aid application for financial aid is January 6, 2025.

The Academy of the Holy Cross has a history that dates back to the days just after the Civil War. The Sisters of the Holy Cross originally came to the Washington area to serve as nurses, however their service as educators is no less auspicious.
