Unlike their Roman counterparts, the Carthaginians weren’t known for groundbreaking artistic innovation. Instead, their artistic expression served as a vibrant tapestry woven from influences across the vast Mediterranean world.

That symbol is a religious one and was used quite often (though, to my knowledge, not usually in a military context). I do believe the Sacred Band's patron deity was the goddess Tanit, so they may well have painted her symbol on their shields or carried her banner.
