In "Ancient Indian Artifacts" Vol 1 by Jim Bennett, he mentions on page 124 that some game balls were made in Europe and traded or sold in America. I don't believe the one here was manufactured in Europe. It seems slightly too crude for that in that it is not perfectly round. The surface is very smooth, however.

Jim also gives one day courses once or twice a year. invest in a good 40x stero-microscope, and learn what to look for the minute you receive your purchase. It will be worth its weight in gold

My research tells me that post holes were made with sharpened wooden pins that were pounded into the ground with a heavy pounding stones.
