Bacteriochlorophylls (BChl) are photosynthetic pigments that occur in various phototrophic bacteria. They were discovered by C. B. van Niel in 1932. [1] . They are related to chlorophylls, which are the primary pigments in plants, algae, and cyanobacteria.
