2023年8月27日 · I love the the earlier art style! It reminds me of Katsuhiro Otomo. It’s overall very 80s and has a grittier vibe (especially in the environment/bg drawings) which I think better represents Yoshida’s vision of New York. The middle volumes’ art style is also pretty good. The later designs are so bland and very… yaoi-esque.

2018年2月23日 · Banana Fish’s style doesn’t conform to any shojo art trend (it doesn’t look like a shojo manga at all, actually). There are no sparkles, no flowers: only action lines, guns and blood. It does conform to general trends of the decades though. Just look at bulky, round-faced mid 80s Ash; and the slimmer –more “refined,” if you will–, late 80s/90s Ash.

2019年1月29日 · The manga is definitely worth reading, I loved it. For one, the art style in the manga develops and changes a lot. It was a long running manga do of course the art style changes, but it makes such a drastic change and it's really interesting to compare the start art style and see it gradually evolve to what the anime took some features of.
