The Short Magic Mat was designed to be used with the Cuttlebug die-cutting machine in place of a B plate. Two Short Magic Mats may also be used to replace both B plates in your Cuttlebug die-cutting sandwich. The sandwich for the Gemini would be (top to bottom) A cutting plate, thin metal die, paper, magic mat, and cutting plate.

Your Cuttlebug should come with a spacer (A), 2 (B) cutting plates and a (C) cutting plate. These are all you need. If I'm not mistaken all you need to cut the original sizzix dies is the spacer-thick white opaque and the 2 (B) plates. Used plates are marked/etched plates. I have used mine a lot over the years and just recently replaced one B. Long ago when I bought my Bug, the starter kit came with A, 2 Bs and a C. I think now that they don't give you the C with the intial kit.
