William Welch Deloitte, founder of Deloitte. In 1947, Detroit accountant George Bailey, then president of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, launched his own organization.

William Welch Deloitte (13 February 1818 – 23 August 1898) was a British accountant and the founder of the professional services firm that subsequently became Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in the United States and Coopers & Lybrand Deloitte in the United Kingdom.

For four decades, founder William Welch Deloitte made his home in Southall, a town 40 miles west of his office in central London. He built strong ties to the local community, and helped fund the construction of his community church in 1890.

2013年10月18日 · In 1896, Charles Waldo Haskins and Elijah Watt Sells formed Haskins & Sells in New York. It was later described as “the first major auditing firm to be established in the country by American rather than British accountants.”

Deloitte Dutch Caribbean was founded in 1982 in an effort to create a solid accounting firm headed by native professionals. In 1982, the two-man team of David Moxley and W. Grant Gregory succeeded Russell Palmer as leaders of Touche Ross.
