Silicone caulk & sheet metal is still the better choice, even with low temp condensing equipment.

The other kind of fire rated caulk is intended to stay put and NOT do anything when there is a fire. This type is more like regular silicone, but it’s rated up to 600+ degrees.

2013年2月27日 · Anyway, even if you don't consider air sealing an issue, the CODE requires fire block sealant at each penetration. That has much higher adhering and non-shrinking standards than air sealing caulks. You can't put EPDM collars on PEX and PEX bundles. Every time it heats up, PEX squeals like a banshee if it is forced through EPDM, wood and plastic.

2019年1月27日 · You can seal the electrical boxes with fire rated silicone caulk (not intumescent fire caulk). You can also use the orange great stuf foam, but I like the fire caulk better. Try not to get a lot inside the box, just seal the holes and the edge of the box where it meets the drywall.
