2014年11月16日 · The rear end width is important on shoebox Fords if you want some selection on wheels. I have a '50 Club Coupe and have experienced this first hand. The Maverick 8" or Ranger 7.5 and 8.8 are good options.

2010年11月17日 · Most rodders with a 49/50/51 Ford shoebox use a 5 lug Maverick rear end. It measures 56.5 inches wide ( wheel mounting flange to wheel mounting flaange ) I believe the T-Bird is 60 plus inches wide ... measured WMS to WMS ... so it would be too wide. It will fit as well as your sneakers fit a five year old.

Mark where your adjusting nuts are currently set (these are the large bowl shaped pieces with holes every 3/8" or so mounted outside of the carrier bearings) so you can put them back where they were previously.

You will probably have to have the housing narrowed and the axles shortened and new spring perches welded to the housing. Fairly straightforward and simple swap. Stronger axles alone just won't cut it in the original '51 rear end.
