2020年1月22日 · A dermatofibroma (DF) is a common, benign tumor composed of fibroblastic and histiocytic cells. DF presents clinically with several different reported variants. One rare variant is hemosiderotic DF (HDF), which is made up of small blood vessels and hemosiderin deposits.

Dermatofibromas are common benign skin neoplasms. The authors report the clinical, dermoscopic and histopathological features of a hemosiderotic dermatofibroma mimicking melanoma in an 85-year-old woman.

Hemosiderotic dermatofibroma (HDF) is a rare variant of DF. It often mimics other skin lesions including melanocytic lesions and vascular tumors. In this report, we described the clinical features and histopathological findings of a rare HDF case that mimics melanoma.

Based on these findings, this review focuses on the clinical and histological features of the various variants of dermatofibroma in terms of their clini-cal presentation, distinct histopathological features, differential diagnosis and prognosis.
