Although not the unlocked chip most of us are waiting for, the Intel Core i7-4790 is the new kid on the block, sporting a fancy 4.0 GHz boost clock right out of the box. I put it through the paces to see what's what only to come to the same conclusions as most other sites. But here's my take on the Intel Core i7-4790 anyway.

Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading the core-count is effectively doubled, to 8 threads. Core i7-4790K has 8 MB of L3 cache and operates at 4 GHz by default, but can boost up to 4.4 GHz, depending on the workload. Intel is building the Core i7-4790K on a 22 nm production process using 1,400 million transistors.

2020年10月15日 · I've reviewed the i7 4790, it's still seems to be a great processor, and looking at the price some are getting for them, there seems to be a lot of folks that think these processors still have some value. No, I don't want a Ryzen build, even though they seem to be the best bang for the buck now days, I want an Intel build.

2014年12月8日 · It may not load the game any faster but the frames are higher and it's more then 1-2 fps, unless of course it's a gpu bound game. So I still say it's worth it to get the 4790k over the regular 4790 eve if you don't overclock simply due to the base boost in clock speed.
