Charles Edward Greene (born September 24, 1946), better known as "Mean" Joe Greene, is an American former professional football defensive tackle who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL) from 1969 to 1981.

Joe Greene was voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 1987. Greene was also an inaugural member of the Steelers Hall of Honor as a member of the Class of 2017. Greene changed what it meant to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
