He said that he had three parents. His mother, the curse who impregnated his mother and the man who mixed his blood in Kamo noritoshi ( who at the time was actually kenjaku).

The Kamo clan isn't necessarily weak. Maki/Toji alone could wipe out the Zenith clan so the Kamo clan being destroyed by Kenjaku isn't a sign of weakness. Furthermore, Maki and Toji are exceptions to the rule and don't really show how strong the Zenin clan is. They could have been born in a normal family for all we know.

Human Kamo clan members were always at risk of losing blood in theory (unless they had something else to deal with this major drawback of their CT). So far, we don't really know what made them a major clan. Gojo clan hasn't been explored much as well but at least we know what made them very important and threatening.
