Maybe the ritual Gohan sat through in DBZ fixed his anger issues. So Gohan normally would have transformed into SSJ before the ritual, but now he transforms into Ultimate Gohan so malice and anger don’t inhabit his thoughts. The ritual unlocked all his potential and still made him stronger than SSJ 3 (maybe).

2021年9月1日 · I have seen people try to work-around this by giving Gohan a rage boost on top of his Super Saiyan 2 power, thus allowing for pre-Majin Vegeta to be stronger than "regular" Gohan but not "raged" Gohan. Something like this: SSJ2 Goku = SSJ2 Majin Vegeta > SSJ2 Kid Gohan (rage boost) > SSJ2 Vegeta (PM) > SSJ2 Kid Gohan
